Looking Toward 2012

So, in anticipation of the new year, I've glanced over my journal entries of 2011. What were my goals? Did I meet them? Have I learned anything this year? What should my goals be for 2012?

Last year, my goals were all health-related, in the areas of physical, emotional, financial & spiritual. So I thought to myself, why not have the same goals this year? Although I have to say instead of just general "health", there are really 3 parts of each goal: learning, implementation, and accomplishment.

As far as physical & financial health is concerned, I've already learned what I've needed to do. Emotionally I've learned sooo much this year (probably my biggest area of growth, I think). And spiritually, I've just begun a process of re-learning. Leslie Vernick's book is really setting my feet on that path.

Implementation: physically, I've got to get back on the bandwagon as far as exercise & not pigging out. Being sick in the fall, then going into Christmas, on top of eliminating daily walks so I can focus on my emotional growth all contributed to diminished exercise. Financially, there were some set-backs, but I'm not as behind the 8-ball now as I was this time last year. I think I can pay off that credit card bill. I suspect that there will be other financial decisions to make as well. Emotionally: it will be a process, but it's already begun.

Accomplishment: The only goal that can be permanently accomplished is my financial goal of paying off the credit card. But that will be great!

I have to say that I'm really proud of what I've accomplished emotionally. The realizations about what is & is not my responsibility, the adjustment of my expectations, the re-checking of my own motives & actions. As these become part of my everyday thinking, it will further affect my way of relating in a healthy direction.

And once I'm working from a healthier place, I can begin to make some clear decisions (boundaries?) as to how I deal with others, particularly DH, DS, Sister & Mom.

But never fear--I plan on not being all work in 2012! I plan on having some fun (at least genealogy-wise)!
