Looking forward, II
It is amazing how much talking with someone can have such a positive effect on your outlook on life. I have been venting to my best friend, talking with a therapist and now sharing my story and talking with others going through the same ordeal in this support group and I am feeling so much better. I am taking this day by day, but each day I feel myself letting go of the pain that my STBX left me with. I am still in pain, the intensity is just not as great. Mutual friends will update me on his lifestyle and I tell them I do not care to hear it and I mean it. I do not want to know what he is doing or who he is with and that feels so liberating. I am more focused on making sure my sons are happy and that I am taking care of myself as I should. This is a far cry from the woman who was crying almost everyday until she couldn't see because her eyes were so swollen.
I talked with the courts today and our first divorce hearing should be scheduled in the next few weeks. They said they would personally give me a call since all of the paperwork is in order. The only hurdle I will have in court is to prove that he is not fit to have joint physical custody. It should not be hard considering that he is constantly on social media with photos of his every drunken, disgusting adventure, yet I still am a little worried.
But back to being positive. I am treating myself to a movie Sunday afternoon. It has been almost 20 years since I went out by myself, but I am feeling okay about it. I am going to see something that interests me and I only have to worry about me. I am looking forward to this new life.
