Long run, check! Stretch & Strength, check! - 6 Days to Go!

Today's workout: Stretch and Strengthen. More dips and curls for me, and also some pushups just for fun. :) And of course, abs!
I can't believe it's just 6 days to go! Keeping a daily journal is tough, especially on the weekends. But I'll be happy when I look back on these last 15 days and see an entry every day, and all the wonderful support. It's kind of like an Internet time capsule.
I'm also trying to leave feedback on everyone else's goals and journals too. Thank you for the wonderful support!
The long run was fantastic. I ended up running a full 6 miles, rather than the 5.5 I was supposed to run. I wouldn't normally recommend going over your training plan, because that could build a dangerous mentality that may lead to overtraining, but in this case I just felt really good. Here is a snapshot of the hill I had to climb during this long run, which is similar to the one I'll be encountering during the race:

For me, there is absolutely no shame in walking. I'm probably not the best inspiration for the hardcore competitive runners out there, but in my mind, my goal is to complete the distance, and have a relaxing, moodlifting, calorie burning time. I even heard that if you go slowly on long runs, it burns more calories than going really fast on shorter runs.
I didn't walk during this long run, but I definitely wanted to. What matters is the distance is covered and that I feel healthy!
What are some goals that everyone else is working on? Remember to PM me if you're interested in having your story or goal be a DailyStrength Feature. :)
Tomorrow's workout: 3 miles!

6 miles, thats good. You really should be there 6 days before raceday. Its only a 1/2 mile difference. As long as you feel good - there is no harm in it. Glad to see that you are in this for the enjoyment, fun of it. Hopefully there will be a large crowd for this run because having the crowds there to cheer you on makes all the difference in the world. They definitely keep you going. I use to hate runs where there was no one around. It makes for a boring time. The crowds cheer you on and you have a smile on your face even though you are not doing well - they keep you going when your about to fall down.

I read in Jim Fixx\'s book that there is very little difference in calories burned between fast running and slow running. It\'s only like 3 or 4 more. I didn\'t realize that was all uphill, boy! That\'s a tough run! The longest hil I ever ran up was heartbreak hill in the Boston 100th and that was 5 miles long and there were times when I walked also. There is no shame in that, the first goal should be to finish. The second goal should be in as short of a time you think is good for you. I told u this would be a piece of cake, I take that back. It will be as great of a challenge as any race course I have ever seen. I know you can do it girl!
