Long Road
First Entry. History mostly. I started in spring of 2012 by asking my PCP about bariatric referral. I went to a intro meeting and was leaning to the lap-band. Once on the track I was going to 2 and 3 appointments each week. Overload! The only hic-up was finding I had GERD. This meant no lap-band, and really no sleeve. So now get an endoscopy, and wait. I also had a CPAP, and while I did not need a study, the machine was too old and wearing out. Sleep study scheduled, and new CPAP, YEAH!! Then as time past, I was falling out of the paperwork at the doctors office. I get a call, and looks like I need to bug the sleep people to pass on the study. Last hurdle was the insurance needed a weigh in report. 355 and about 51 Bmi. Now it's almost Oct of 2013. About 18 months. It's a long process.
I was fully ready for a lap-band last year. Now I know that Lap-bands are reversible, and not as effective. They can be OK, but a lot of people have revisions, and removal of the bands. I have been so long in the journey I am not sure there is really a next step.
Last year was hard. I had lost some weight, and then there were deaths in the family. Sister, Mother, Birth Mother, Father, Aunt (God Parent). Some weight has come back. I am now back on track, and waiting for the Insurance.
I am now waiting, and thinking, and rethinking. You know that I don't see myself as overweight, but photos don't lie. Blood Pressure, Apnea, back and knee pain does not lie.
