Long, boring for me day.

Got on the hospital van, yesterday, with Dad at 7 AM.  I got home around 3:30 PM.  Long day.I got at least 6 bags of stuff added to a plain IV through out the day.  Plus a needle of  Heparin to keep the thing from clotting after the chemo was done.  I felt no changes during any of the treatment. The last two bags were given while I was hooked to a heart/blood pressure monitor.  Nurse was concerned at the elavated pressure, but the doctor wasn't worried about it then.  But said there might be need to adjust my pressure meds in future. Some of the drugs can damage the kidneys and liver so I need to keep them flushed.I noticed I did not get up every two hours during the night, so I have started my day with a quart of warm water to get things going.  Got word that the Muga scan was good. Nice little lunch was served.  Meatball Hot Pocket, Chicken noodle soup, applesauce, and hot tea were my selections.  I have to go back this afternoon for an injection of Neulasta to boost white cell count.  It is given 24 hours after each strong chemo is given.  I feel fine so far.  Maybe all the talk about of side effects is partly scare tactics that get spread around.  Or maybe none of them have hit me yet.  The hair loss will probably start at the end of the month.  I passed the time reading a Maeve Binchey book, listening to the nurses gossip--they put me right across from them since I was first-timer, looked out the window a bit, and rested my eyes.  I did get sleepy after they gave Benedryl in one of the bags. The treatment next week should be only 3 hours.I figure on washing towels and hanging them out to dry today.  So, I am doing okay.

My thoughts and prayers are with you through your treatments. Maybe bring a puzzle book or something next time? Can you bring a radio with ear plugs so you can listen to music? Oh, a cassette player so you can listen to books on tape! HUGS!

Good suggestions, but I don\'t have those things. I just got the new Large Print Readers Digest, which I put in my sack for next week. I do have variety pencil puzzle books, too. Usually skip the crosswords, though. There is a TV in each cubicle. I tried looking at the noon news, but with TVs blaring on each side I gave up on that. This next visit is to be only 3 hours so that won\'t take long. It was fun, if nosy, listening to the nurses gossip.

That is how I found out the radiation doctor needs gall bladder surgery. I told sister that so she knows the \'old coot\' she doesn\'t trust is subbing for him. He fouled up something for Dad early on so she had to take him to have it redone.

I am not sure she will put Dad through the rest of the treatments. Two more weeks. Visit to his surgeon on Monday. She\'ll have a talk with him about what has been going on to get him so upset, and her pissed off. I did have a talk with the receptionist, yesterday, who said she\'d pass on to the staff today. Sister sent a letter to them this morning, too. So, we shall see.....

In the meantime, I am feeling okay and looking to the end of that rainbow.

Good morning to you and pleasant weekend, too. Keep on Knitting!

Have you ever tried sudoku? It is a type of puzzle that uses numbers in columns. It is a good way to pass the time and it makes you think. My Mom found some in the dollar store before, so you can get them cheap. You might also ask if the volunteers have any books that you can read.

I am going to knitting class tomorrow and will buy more yarn. I used up all the other yarn that I bought, so I can\'t wait to get some more!
