Loneliness

Just read an article on this site. Here's a snippet that hits home with me:
Most studies on loneliness point to a lack of belonging, an absence of being valued, cared about and appreciated for our contributions to the group. As human beings we have a need to belong with others and be part a community. Being with others in a meaningful way is identified as a key to eliminating loneliness.
At my job, I am so unappreciated so that helps add to my issues. In this accounting field, if you don't bill clients and bring money in, then you are a drain on the partners wallets. i don't bring money in so I am a waste of their money. I have been told this so I know it's what they think.
I do find that if I can try to help people here or any other site I have signed up for, then that makes me feel better.

Those are very good points you made and I needed to hear that right about now as, I am still very isolated from people and almost never leave my apt except for errens.

It sounds like, you think about \"yourself\" the same as what the people at your work thinks about you. \"You are \"not\" your work\". Here, this might help:
I had a Psychiatrist once, he was 80 years old from Germany who came to the states to teach patients what American Psychiatrists do not teach. Dr. K use to walk around in the same old suit, holes in his shoes, a brief case that looked like it was ran thru a razormill and his car desperately needed to see a junk yard. After I knew him well, (as I saw him on a daily basis), I said to him once, \"Doc,,, you got holes in your shoes Doc, and it looks like they\'ve been there a while. Don\'t you have another suit and tie? I hate to say it but your suit looks like it has had it. And your brief case has got to go. How do u \"not\" drop stuff out of that thing?,, there are holes everywhere and look Doc see, the zipper barely works, and the velcro\'s half missing. And we have to talk about your car. Your car has got to go. I\'ve seen it, it\'s very very very old, it putters, it drives to slow, most the paints pealed off. How do u \"not\" get a ticket\"? Dr.K pulled his chair up to me, he put both of his hands on my cheeks, looked at me right in the eyes with the most sincerity, and in his German accent he said to me, \"ANDREA, I AM \"NOT\" MY SHOES, I AM \"NOT\" MY SUIT, AND I AM \"NOT\" MY BRIEFCASE AND I AM NOT MY CAR\".
Those words Jolted me. Even though back then I didnt have a mind left, it didn\'t take long for me to understand exactly what he was saying to me. What he said to me was one of the only things, I have ever heard, that made real sense to me. And as more time goes my it makes even more sense. Especially when I look around at other people and hear the things they say to each other. If they only knew, they\'d progress.
