Luye Highlands 鹿野高台 is the heart of the festival with its rolling green plains offering panoramic views of the central mountain range. The balloons are transported to locations all over Taitung for special night glow concerts on some weekends during the festival.
The Tao are also well known for various celebrations throughout the Flying Fish Festival, which lasts around nine months during the year when different kinds of flying fish visit the waters near the island.
