Living My Dream
A few years ago I worked part time inside a large hotel near Orlando selling attraction tickets. The general manager for the hotel would always walk past my stand and make the comment that he was living the dream. I always wondered why he would choose to say it as he walked past me. I am a believer of positive affirmations and keep a few around my desk, but didn't realize that he was probably speaking these words as his own positive affirmation to get him through his stressful days.
I have been working on my own dreams and speaking positive affirmations to myself all along the way. I decided on my business name and I love it so much. I registered for my cake decorating class that starts on the 31st of this month. I bake delicious southern style cakes and will specialize in just three for my business, but will bake others for special orders. I also want to learn to decorate cupcakes with just icing. I want to be able to sell them at the flea market and other venues. I am now researching business cards.
I have been baking since I was very young and have a pound cake that I have been baking for 40 years that is so delicious that it is one of my three cakes. I am feeling so good about this endeavor and have discussed it with God and is following his lead. This illness has made me finally think about me and what it is that I want out of life. This is my second chance. My sister and mother continue to tell me that I need to sell my cakes and I am now going to do it without excuses that I always had in the past.

Brenda, that\'s wonderful!!!! Vista is a great place I\'ve found for business cards that aren\'t very expensive and you can put me down for your first cake!
I\'ll even pay to have it shipped because I know how delicious it will be!
Blessings,
Kim
Thank you Kim I will. I was thinking about using Vista, but then I read a wonderful article in yesterday\'s newspaper about doing business with local businesses to help our economy, so I am looking into small printing companies. I have been on my soapbox promoting doing business and buying from American businesses. The article in Sunday\'s paper reported on a family in California that has pledged to only do business with local businesses for 365 days because a small family owned restaurant that they enjoyed had closed and they felt bad for the family who knew them by name and offered great service and food. My daughter and I have been visiting small local restaurants instead of chains, which I never really cared for other than the Applebee\'s \"Perfect\" margarita. I have also been looking into buying a new bed and have been looking at only American made products and found that the majority of Nate Berkus\' products are made in America so that who I will be buying my headboard from. It is a lot of work to try to find American made products, but it is worth it if it will allow someone here in our company to have a job. I had to return my walker today and pick up a new one and all of the products in the warehouse were made in either China or Mexico. The one that I returned was of such poor quality that after one day of use the back wheels started to shred. I believe that if it had been American made it would have lasted more than 1 day.
Okay I have to get off my soapbox.
