Living in Victory!
I've been thinking that I don't want to "live in"/"dwell on" the issues that I'm dealing with. That's not to say that I want to avoid dealing with the issues; on the contrary, I want to deal with them victoriously. I just don't want to be "stuck" on them!
I want my focus to be on positive things in my life, as opposed to focusing on what is wrong. For example, gaining control of my finances is a positive thing!
I'm kind of reminded of when I first moved out on my own. Everything in my life--my finances, how my apartment was decorated, what kind of car I was driving, my career--was determined by me. It was all my decision. I think that when I got married, I kind of abdicated that, at least to an extent, in the name of "submission". (Yes, there is biblically a place for submission in marriage, but no where does it say abdication!)
I guess this is all a natural outgrowth of what is "my stuff". I came across an excellent quote today:
"If it’s never our fault, we can’t take responsibility for it. If we can’t take responsibility for it, we’ll always be its victim." Richard Bach
I used to be a "victim" of my financial situation. I really believed there was nothing I could do about it--but I was wrong! I took responsibility, gained control, and now I have victory in that area! I'd like that for other parts of my life!
