living in a village

I feel trapped in this place. The people here, many of them, are very closed-minded and not open to newcomers. I have never met so many self-centered people in my life until I came to live in this country. And this part of Norway is like the "armpit" of the country. People seem to be purposefully discluding me and all other newcomers as much as they can. All the resources, which are limited as compared to the past, of the town are divided up by these that work in the government offices, and they are corrupt. They are all related to each other or have known each other from birth. Everyone keeps their resources to themselves here. There are a few exceptions, but I have had so many dissapointing exerperiences here and let downs, I don't think I can ever be happy living here. I have to see these awful people all over-can't escape them. I am afraid of what will happen once my kids start school here. It is so limited in terms of quality, opportunities, and everything. I am really scared about my future here. I never dreamed that this would be the situation here in Norway when I moved here and got married. You always hear of it being such a developed, modern country, such nice people. It isn't true. The people here are just as selfish as anywhere else in the world, actually a lot worse. I have never encountered such selfish people, and I have lived in quite a few places (including Germany). I know this is going on and on, and I am being a bit vague at the same time, but can anyone relate to being a highly educated, artsy person in a total back-country, undeveloped town? Does anyone have anything to advise? Probably there is no solution, I just have to adapt, but I have been trying to adapt and so far, my psychological state is very bad. I have a lot of bitterness and anger towards people here, and I don't know how I can work on this.
