Liver Enzymes Still Raised
6 weeks abstaining from alcohol didn't bring my liver enzymes down enough, so further tests required to see what is causing the problem. Hemochromatosis can cause scarring of the liver, worst case; Cirrhosis, so let's hope it's not the latter! Who knows, but no point in worrying like I have been previously. I've spent the last 8 months or so worrying about test results and apart from making obvious lifestyle choices to improve the odds, the rest is beyond my control. I'll take the tests, but I'm not going to chase the results. Some consultants are brilliant in that they contact you not just when it's bad news, but when your results are good. No one contacted me to let me know my results didn't test positive for tumours, so I was waiting and worrying for all that time unnecessarily, but I guess that's just the way it works. I don't have Lupus and I don't have Wilson's Disease, so I'm relieved about all that, I just wish patients weren't kept in the dark while results are just sitting there for weeks on end! Anyway, for now, I'm just dealing with Hemochromatosis. First Venesection is tomorrow morning where they take pint of blood to reduce my iron levels... should be a breeze... unless I faint!
