Live, learn and move on oh ya and don't forget to laugh
So yesterday I felt better and decided to do some work around the house. Well I didn't do a very good job at listening to my body and stopping when it was telling me to. I didn't think I had done all that much and wanted to do a little bit more. Not the brightest idea and I paid for it all night last night. A little more sore this morning than yesterday morning more than likely because of overdoing yesterday. What I have learned from this experience that I really need to listen to my body instead of my mind. That when my body starts telling me that I need to stop I need to stop and not just do a little more. I need to stop and rest and maybe later on I will be able to continue doing what I was doing and get things accomplished a little at a time is going to have to be my motto while I am healing. Other than that minor set back today was pretty good. My food consumption was way out there. Well not really way out there for someone with a normal stomach just way out there for me. My husbands boss took us to lunch today to celebrate our birthdays which are six days apart (his was this last Monday and mine is Sunday) and I was craving a french dip sandwich so that is what I ordered. I had some unsweetened tea, half a french dip sandwich and a small side salad for lunch. While that was really not that bad for someone with a pre-surgery stomach even that amount made me feel like I had eaten a ton of food. As I have said before I'm not that big of a eater and have found food as more of an enemy these last 7 or 10 years than a friend. I am actually looking forward to the liquid part of the diet and the only being able to consume smaller portions without my family thinking that I am starving myself. I got the book Weight Loss For Dummies in the mail yesterday and started reading on it making a few notes and even putting a few things in my journal from the book. I've added journal entries to remind me of key things that I have read. I am really trying to prepare myself for what is yet to come with the surgery I want to make sure that I am as prepared as I can be. I want to have the best success that I can have. I think that the surgeon when I finally am able to meet with him will be impressed with how much I have learned. Considering that patients of his and the nurse that works with the support group were impressed with the amount of knowledge I had about this surgery. While making an impression is great, knowledge is power when it comes to something like this so the more knowledge I have about this surgery the more power I will have. My husbands boss was talking to me about the surgery because we informed him that my husband was going to take his vacation time when I had the surgery. He told us that he has been trying to get his brother to do the surgery but that his brother is scared of it. So I shared with the boss that I had people trying to tell me that I needed the surgery and convince me of it for years and I held onto the fears spread about the surgery as an excuse to not have it. I wasn't ready at that time and then recent health events have occurred and it was like snap all of the sudden the light went on and I was open to learning everything about the surgery not just the negative. I told him that I realized he only had love and concern for his brother but that the harder he pushed the longer it would be before he got to that place. I told him to give his brother my number and I would talk to him, also gave him the web address to the support group here so that he could read.
