Lisa's birthday
Lisa is 47. I wonder what she would be doing if she were still earthside. She was a girl who did not tolerate sameness. She did so much in her short life. She never graduated from university, though she had more education than most grads. She was an admin assistant in the militia, a nursing attendant, a cake decorator, a caregiver for mentally challenged adults, a home care provider who assisted moms with housekeeping skills (a job that amused me as she was not much of a housekeeper at home) etc., she made spa products and had a small business doing relaxation massages, facials etc. Her last couple of jobs were in health care. She was the admin assistant in a home care office. She and the nurse manager ran the place together. Since she had a background in health care, she and Nancy would do hiring and firing together. She had many stories to tell about their antics. Nancy became her best friend. When the organization closed her office, they wanted her to go to a larger office in Kingston, a 2 hour drive - she said no. She then went to a small hospital and was their staff scheduler. She excelled at that as she had a knack for convincing people that they really did want to work that night! One morning, when I was driving her to work, she said we had to stoff for a Tim's coffee (Tim Hortons is Canada's affordable coffee shop) for a night nurse. She had promised to bring one for him in the morning if he would come in and cover the shift. Lisa was an avid member of the social committee at work. She wore a tutu and tiara for a fundraising event and was involved in most of the hospital's social events. That was where she was working when she died. The staff were devastated and had a shrine set up with her tiara, the painting she had done that hung in her office and other memorabilia. If she had lived, I suspect she would have become an nurse, as that was something she was considering. Whatever she did, she did well. But she was a bit like her mom as once she had a task mastered, she got bored.
I will always have this huge hole in my heart. I know she gives me hell for getting down but it will never be alright that she left here before me.
Lisa: I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

Oh, my goodness the hats Lisa could wear! SO many gifts and talents and I have no doubt she would keep adding to them. No grass growing under those busy feet of hers! She reminds me of someone else I know. :)
I'm hopeful our children understand our hearts in ways even we cannot know and yes, it has never been okay that left their physical form before we did. Deepest of sighs... I believe they are with us in the highs, lows and messy middle times. All of it!
