Light at the end of the tunnel

So I talked to Patrick's mom on the phone earlier today.  She and I are going to have a sit down talk with Patrick and just voice our concerns and feelings and what not this Wednesday night, and I'm really hoping that things will go well during that talk and afterwards also.  I know in my previous entry I wrote out of a little bit of anger how I felt about Patrick.  I think things will get better between us though.  At first when we got back into contact things were great, we were spending a lot of time with each other, going on trips to different places, he was there for me and I was there for him.  But, now we've grown apart and there is a distance between us that just doesn't feel right.  He has a boyfriend named John and they've been together for a few months now, and that's all fine and dandy, but he's isolated himself at John's house and has been spending so much time with him away from his family and me.  I'm not jealous by any means, I'm happy for him, but it seems like he's getting "stuck" again in a place in life where he doesn't want to progress and is just comfortable with not doing anything to better himself and his future.
I was talking to Rosanne (Patrick's mom) about how I felt that when I did have a job and was working and was emotionally and mentally stable while Patrick and I were both getting back in contact and spending more time together, that maybe I helped him see the possibilities of being able to do something for one's self.  Now that I'm out of work, and not in school and am picking up the pieces with my own emotional and mental imbalances, it seems he's fallen apart a bit alongside me.  I don't want to blame myself, because everyone makes their own choices and decisions in life.  I just feel like even though I can't and no one can "make" him want to have more motivation, the least I can do aside from being there for him is to set a good example.  That helps myself to be motivated not only for myself but for him too.  I dunno.  Things will get better though.
Aside from all of that, I've put in several applications for work.  It really is a job in itself looking for work.  I'm going to keep trying and soon enough something will turn up and I'll be working again.  I found out that the community college that I used to go to and am enrolled to go back to won't be providing financial aid for me, so I'll have to pay out of pocket at least until I get my student academic progress rate (whatever that means, something about credits and GPA scoring) up to their standards, then I may be eligible for financial aid.  It would be less expensive than to go back to the trade school that I was going to because for a bachelor's degree at the trade school the overall cost after graduation would be roughly a little over fifty grand!!  So, I would much rather pay out of pocket for a few classes, get my GPA back up at their standards and continue at the community college instead.
Things at home are okay, me and mom get along somewhat.  It's kinda like I stay out of her life and she stays out of mine, and we have what I like to call a "surface relationship" where we only talk about things that don't go into depth in our relationship and lives.  It seems to be better that way, because I've tried to deepen our bond with each other, but it never goes deeper than her obsession with material things and money.  My dad makes a decent amount, and my mom handles the bills and things at home, and I can understand that her coming from a poor upbringing that money and material things are somewhat valuable to her, but what about her relationships with me and my sisters?  I dunno, I might save that topic for another journal entry.
I'm feeling a bit better now that I've vented through writing in here.
I hope whoever is reading this, that you have a great weekend and are doing well!
