Life & Stuff
I saw my diaabetes dr recently. I'm always so leary when it comes to the part where we review my blood sugar tests. He feels I'm reasonably stable but there are still issues with lower blood sugars in the evenings. He feels that it could be happening because thats the time of the day where the prednisone is running out & hence it's affecting the blood sugar levels. There were a few days where I did not pay attn to my carb counting for a meal & taking the insulin accordingly. Man oh man I never thought it would make that much of a difference. Sure was a wake up for me.
Last week I got a note fr our nearby hospital with an appt for vascular testing on Apr 15th. I thought OK, strange. I have no idea which one of my drs implemented this but my diabetes dr & I were checking out the vasculitis spots on my lower legs, just a few here & there & I never gave it a 2nd thought. But I guess it's admirable in todays world to have a dr who is proactive.
Had my yearly eye check up recently. Things are kind of OK. I've got some irritation issues & redness off & on & we're both wondering if it's tied in with an allergy & possibly to the cats and/or shelter. She wants me to monitor how my eyes do for abt 24 hrs after being there so we'll see where this goes. But I thought cats!!, hello I've got Angel, oh boy. She was saying that the outer surface of my eye is sort of flat against the eye not as curved as most people. She's also submitting my name for a laser treatment that does away with the major cause of glaucoma. I've never heard of this but I told her I agree in being proactive with health issues.
Hubby struggles some days & I know he feels so useless sometimes but I always try & remind him of the various special things he does, maybe little & silly, but when I come home fr the shelter he's got the kitchen all clean, bed made. I told him that all those little things are pretty darn special. Middle of Apr he's got his regular cancer checkup & it weighs on his mind sometimes.
We had one really nice wk recently, nice enough that we opened the sunroom so we spent alot of coffee & breakfast time & such in there but alas it's closed again now because mother nature can't make up her mind. The few squirrels I had that kept coming throughout the winter thought it was pretty cool having aunty right there to tend to them. I had cleaned the glass on the patio doors really good & one came jumping up on the table, put the brakes on, sat up really tall with this shocked look in his eyes like what the heck, I can see right inside.
Well I think thats abt it for now. My love to each & everyone of my friends for sharing this time with me.

Hi Kitty, you have alot on your plate, my friend. You\'re taking amazing control of your food and monitoring for diabetes, proud of you. I agree about being proactive on health, I asked to have my g/b removed before it got painful. You take care of your eyes, laser is amazing, alot of peeps have had it and are back to 20/20 vision. Your doc sounds good and thorough. Hubby is a huge help, it\'s great when you don\'t have to ask or nag and stuff just gets done, huh? I\'m jealous of your sun room. Would love to see photos.... spring is here, my friend, it\'s been a long cold winter for us.... the best is ahead. xxoo
I love the story about the glass and squirrel!! I know how entertaining those little critters can be. I tell my son that critter watching is to my cat what video games are to him. LOL.
I surely hope things get balanced with you regarding your sugar levels. I feel bad that you have to monitor them so closely. Oh the things we take for granted, in earlier years, right?
I hope that your allergy situation is just temporary ... maybe just from too much of *everything* at the shelter.??? Maybe one cat\'s dander is OK in your clean home, but the dander in a cramped shelter room may be more than your system can take at times? I try to look at things like that instead of all or nothing, which helps me cope with pesky issues sometimes.
About your eye visit. This reminds me so much of one eye doc I had years ago. I kind of chuckle about him. I\'ve seen many opthalmologists (sp?) over the years and most are pretty laid back and tell me I am 100% fine and they don\'t even want to give me bifocals \"because I would hate them\" they say. How funny.
But I had this one Type A eye doc who went over every minute detail with me and scared me to death. He even prescribed $200 reading glasses for my computer work, which I naively bought at the naive age of 27! sigh. lol. I\'m hoping that your issues are minor, but just being over-analyzed. I would personally get a 2nd opinion before doing ANY laser treatment to my eyes. The reason for this is that I\'ve learned that the scar tissue can become a huge problem and that some people have bad effects from laser work (not all are success stories) and that vision correction laser work only lasts a few years. I don\'t think most people even know that when they get it done. For shame!
Anyway, that\'s just my 2 cents about general laser work. Please get a 2nd opinion and if you go for the procedure, please make sure they do tons and tons of that type of work because I think you deserve no less than that. :)
lots of love, m
