Life Looks Better

Saturday, August 16, 2008 – 11A.M. Things seem to be going good this weekend. That is a big change.   I saw my psychologist yesterday morning. We talked about my depression and the fact that a few months ago I had felt that everything in my life was going downhill. He said he now sees a change in me, and that now I don’t feel so worthless, or life no longer seems so hopeless.   An example of this, he continued, was the way I went out on my own, determined to find a store selling swimming trunks, last weekend. Another confirmation of this was the manner in which I took control and managed to get to my doctor’s office on Monday.   He also gave me short examples of the meaning of “dysfunctional” families. I told him that if I understood his meaning properly, then my sister has a few things wrong, which she needs to know about.   I agreed to see him on August 27, along with my sister. He wants to see just the two of us together before we bring in our brother. I told him how close I was to my sister, as opposed to my brother. We talked about the fact that when two of us have a problem, rather than confront one another and work things out, each of us usually goes though the third member of the family. He said we needed to work on that.   Quotes for Success: “In order to succeed you must fail, so that you know what not to do the next time.”   Anthony D'Angelo
