Life is normal
Good news. T told my husband that school is now flying by. He's getting papers finished and is talking about staying for a few extra months so that he can have his high school name on his diploma, rather than the on-line school diploma!!!! YES!!!! Last night my husband and I played indoor soccer (7PM) then came home and showered and went up the art show at the place he volunteers for and place I teach. They had a wonderful band playing outside, with appetizers, and free wine. There is something very therapeutic about being up there. The atmosphere is just so serene and calming. Anyway, there wasn't much food or drink left when we got there but it didn't matter. We had a ball! Seeing people we don't get to see very much and meeting new people! I love it up there. The director of the place is the sister-in-law of a TV star (I'm a big fan of). The director is very nice and very approachable. Anyway, she came up to us and said "Wow, you know so many people". She went on to tell us about some people who were at the function before we arrived that they knew us. LOL. When you live in a small town and live in the area for awhile - it is bound to happen. Tonight we are supposed to go to the home of one of our old friend's house to play cards. We belonged this card group for years but then it got to the point I just didn't enjoy the company anymore. I just couldn't relate to them. Most of them had daughters who were the half-time dancers at the football games and such. This group is more prestigious than cheerleaders at "our" high school and I just grew tired of all the "girl" gossip. I couldn't relate to them and found them to be rather boring. So we made one excuse after another. I also was struggling with T and didn't feel like sharing it with this group with "perfect" child and parents. Long story short - we got roped into going.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all continues to go well for T at school; that he remains motivated. Cards...I guess it\'s just a couple of hours out of \"your life\". I always get through the obligation by asking them questions that enable them to talk about themselves all night. Enjoy the wine and snacks, and WIN BIG! So, T is getting his groove back! He\'s determined to buckle down and get his diploma from HIS high school. Things are lookin up!! Gettin out, havin fun is a real joy when you don\'t have to worry so much isn\'t it?? I got to have dinner with my 2 very bestfriends last night and it was hilarious. How much we forget when in the throws of our kids addiction. So glad you got this chance to exerience peace and serenity at this art function. You know, I think that famous people just want to enjoy the same things we do don\'t you? Life is much more fulfilling. Friends come and go and when life changes, sometimes they come back. I am really happy things are going well. Your comment about the \"perfect\" stuff really hits. I was with cousins I had not seen in years. All the kids are about the same age. Everyone was discussing colleges etc. They asked so where is C going. Not knowing what to say because I had not discussed anything we were going through (only one cousin knew) I said \"we were undecided between \"State\" and \"Federal\", we\'re thinking \"Federal\" because his is smarter than the average bear.\" But to the point, my husband and I are also finding a little more difficult to be with certain friends because of the situation.
