Life is a process....
Life is a process or so I have found. We live, we learn, we mess up, we grow. In all that we have to process emotions and the feelings attached to all those experiences. We grow attached and unattached to people and things. Sometimes the decisions we make or the company we keep may not be the best. Other times it is what suits us. In all the experiences we are shaped from it but what truly makes us who we are is how we deal with all of it.
I recently lost my best friend of 17 years. In all reality she wasn’t my best friend because she wasn’t a very good friend in the first place. She was always negative, rude, jealous, and petty. She spent a good amount of her time always trying to one up me not to mention our friendship was based on her needs. Basically she was one sided. I was always giving and never got anything in return.
Honestly, I was wanting to break it off with her anyways, however, I didn’t want it to be this way. I guess I didn’t wish to see how truly messed up our friendship was. It hurts to know she easily let people come between us. In all that I am glad I got to see who she truly was and how she let her husband manipulate her. It was also really sad that she let her husband physically threaten me especially when I had absolutely nothing to do with the drama at hand.
Now in all this I feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Yes, I am sad it all came to this. I honestly thought our friendship could endure anything. The reality of it is it didn’t. Now I am processing. The relief, the sadness, the disappointment.
I know I will find other friends. Friends that will be positive and bring something to my life. I look forward to that, but for now…I just need to process.
Hope all is well.
