Life.......and living

May 27thI have decided to stop censoring what I what write in my blog and I can’t believe that  I would even  consider this.  Our Poodle, Honey, is snuggled in one of her own beds here near the computer.  I am up much later than I should be, or is healthy for me to be, but I seem to be wired!  What I wrote yesterday: We have been having humongous thunderstorms here the last few days and they were particularly bad today.  On the way home this afternoon at times I saw pretty puffy white clouds that brought to mind how Joe and I used to look up at them and we could see all kinds of shapes, figures, animals and people as the clouds changed shapes.  We lived in Queens, NY very near the deserted 1939 World's Fair site that had grown over and was pretty much a wasteland at that time.  It was always neat to go there and lay in the grass and imagine all kinds of neat things in the clouds.  Also, at that time there were any number of hot air balloons (like the Goodyear blimp) that passed over often and they were fun to watch, too.  Later they decided to use the site to make the 1964 NY World's Fair.  When Dickie and I went back to the 1964 World's Fair it brought back so many childhood memories for me.  They kept several of the original buildings, as well as the Aquacade where a couple of movies were made.  I'm glad that they kept one building in particular because it housed large ice skating and roller rinks that were favorite places for my high school crowd (and little Br’er Joe sometimes tagged along).  We skated just about every week and then all went to either "Jack and Jills" or "Jahns" (the two ice parlors that we liked) and had ice cream or toasted pound cake and hot chocolate.  One of the ice cream selections came in what amounted to a soup bowl and was called the "Psychiatrist's Dream"....it was a variety of flavors of ice creams, whipped cream, syrup, cherries, nuts and on and on and it was so big that it could be shared by 2 or 3 of us.  An evening like that sounds kinda tame, doesn't it, compared to what is going these daysTime marches on.........and it sure does it quickly!         Getting back to our weather today, our temperature was right at 100 degrees F. and we had heavy rain squalls here, there and yon with very high winds and lightning.  At times there were breaks in the scary dark sky when you could see fluffy white clouds and a pretty deep blue sky barely peeping through in places.  It was surreal.  I saw two vivid double rainbows on the way home and had chill bumps.  Mother Nature sure knows how to throw us curves at times and then makes up for it with beautiful rainbows.  It reminded me of something I read a while back....."After the sun the rain, after the rain the sun......this is the way of Life."
