Let the FUN begin!!!

Looking back on my entry approx. 6 weeks ago makes me laugh! At the time I wrote in my journal I had no idea what all would (and would not) transpire in the coming 6 weeks before Christmas.
The best news is my best friend is well on her way to recovery from her hip replacement surgery - though I noticed she was in quite a bit of pain tonight from being on her feet too much while family is here from out of state for the holidays. Gonna have to keep an eye on that girl!!!
My friend and co-worker WAS diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent an double mastectomy approx. 2 weeks ago. They think things were caught early, but chemo will follow shortly. She has a great support group of family, friends, and co-workers. Right now she just wants time to herself to digest all of what is happening. So - phone calls every few days just to listen to her talk about what she is comfortable discussing and to let her know she is loved!
December - to this point - has mostly been a blur. Over 3 weeks of that nasty virus going around and it's failure to move on have taken their toll! I tried so hard to continue on and push through it, but one day I took a nose dive and finally went to see the doc. Could hardly drive my car there, let alone walk up to his office. Diagnosis: virus had now moved into pneumonia, bronchitis, and a sinus infection. Seven days later it began to feel like maybe the antibiotics were starting to make a difference. Thank goodness for online shopping!!! LOL Hours & hours of wrapping were completed late last night. Forced to cut out some of the things I normally do during the weeks before Christmas & keep with the basics in order to keep working and then run errands after work. Lots of lessons learned from this whole experience - and, more to come as I take the time to analyze all of this after the first of the year.
I am TRULY looking forward to putting this year to bed and beginning a new one. There will be LOTS of discussions with my hubby about scheduling more events (big & small) that we enjoy into our lives. And, I need to take a fresh look at how I currently live my life and how that compares to the life I dream of having.
FUN...SIMPLIFY...TRAVEL...FAMILY...FEARLESS...
INTROSPECTION...all words that come to me at this time.
So I prepare to say good-bye to 2012 & WELCOME 2013!!!
