Let\'s get physical
At the end of March, I made the decision to pay for my NYOC fee convinced that I would pass the physical for it. My doctors had decided that there was nothing wrong with me, so I figured I was alright too. Non-refundable fee paid, flights booked, paper work getting sorted out, and everything's going good, just waiting for my music to arrive so I can practice it. I'm back home where my awesome GP is and had my physical for NYOC this morning. Right on the form to fill out it asks for nervous disorders or seizures and I have to say yes. This starts a whole new discussion. Now he wants me to get dressed and discuss that. I put on my clothes and he starts asking me questions. I didn't anticipate this, so I didn't have my pain journal with me, but from reciting everything so many times already, I knew pretty well the order in which everthing happened. At the end, he frowned and said "I can't sign this and say that you are capable of doing this. I don't know where you got the idea that you could with all this that's going on." He told me I shouldn't be driving anymore, and I don't know if its his responsibility to inform the ministry of transportation about that or what, but I told him I was selling my car and don't drive (just ride my bike, right?). I told him I was healthy - my doctors back where I go to school decided I was heatlhy and that they wouldn't pursue anything - so he said that if I got a letter from my neurologist with my test results saying I was fine, than he could sign my physical for me. This gets so confusing! How can one doctor just brush it aside and say I'm fine while another keeps me there for an hour and tells me to cut up my driver's licence? No wonder getting a second opinion is a good idea. I'm very interested to know what this doctor here wants to do for me since I don't live here anymore. I sensed that he was a bit annoyed that I had all these heatlh problems which were brushed aside and there I was coming to see him again like they were just small things, and he feels obliged to help me out. But I don't know how. Fingers crossed that I can do this thing this summer; if I can't do this, what can I do as a career?
