Let's Dance - Put on Your (New) Shoes and Dance the Blues

Well, it's not new shoes. I bought a new frock today that Ruby would love, mainly because Ruby would have loved it. The bodice is classic vintage styling in navy with a floral patterned flare skirt. She'd say it'll look smashing on me. And now I need new shoes. And a handbag. And somewhere to wear it all. Though Ruby had this knack for dressing up just because she felt like it - it didn't matter if she was just going 'round to the shops. So maybe I'll dance my blues through the grocery store in my lovely new digs.

I spoke to my dad this evening, he said, "You owe it to Ruby to live the best and most full life you can. The life she'd want you to have." I know he's right. So dancing shoes it is. I used to tell Ruby that with this illness we were dancing through a minefield. It feels like there are more explosives underfoot than ever, but the goal is to keep moving to the music. To keep dancing, and placing each foot with (if not surety) hope and joy.

Ruby would love the thought of you in a new frock, with handbag and shoes.
Dancing through a minefield is such a great way to explain this illness, and yes keep moving, keep dancing.
