Legs Weaker

My legs are getting weaker.  Don't know how much more of this I can stand.  The hand-me-down recliner didn't work out.  It was in worse shape than mine.  The older lady who had it thought that since the fabric looked good, it was in good shape.  Her daughter looked at it and saw that it wouldn't recline and the wood frame was in bad shape.  I've added a folded quilt to the seat of mine to make it easier to get up.  It's still hard and Kit has learned to get out of the way when I get up.  But, the thing that showed how weak my legs are happened this afternoon.  After taking Kit out, I couldn't get up the steps to get back in the house!  I have to go up them sideways because they're so narrow.  Its been getting harder and harder to make that last step before I step into the house.  I couldn't make it this time.  After getting Kit in, I shut the door,,went back down the steps(not easy going down sideways as I go down "normal" style while leaning against the wall),,sat down on the top step and starting crying and shouting, crying for help.  After about 20 minutes, a young man who lives across the street heard me and helped me into the house.  I think that with the recliner being broken, I can't rest my legs like I used to.  I can't get them up.  I've got to find a cheap recliner.  I can't go on like this!

Oh my Mike -- what about \'family\'? Are they there for you? It seems since the passing of your precious mother it has been a difficult journey. I grew up orphaned in foster care here in California so I never had good support outside of the wonderful love and care of my late husband. Coping with illness in crisis by myself without his support has been a awful nightmare to try and adjust to. Our society, collectively, is not worth much these days in caring about anyone without a load of cash to grab hold of and even then the care can often be dismal. If I had better support and had not been left in such crisis I perhaps would be able to be of at least some help but I\'m not even able to take good care of myself most days. I can\'t refer you to your local church as my own has issued death to me after the passing of my husband left me to their mercy and care. It took me years just to begin to face the realty of what this crisis is for me to survive. I suppose keeping your doctors posted that you are unable to care well for yourself in your home may allow convalescent care as a possible option but most of those places are truly not fit for humans to survive well. I hope your family is somehow there for you and you may contact them to have their love and help to get you through this. I would also hope a physical therapist and nutritionist are part of your treatment plan to somehow get your body in the best health possible. A home health aide would be great help but I don\'t know what you have available to you there. I wonder if Kit can be trained to use an indoor potty area such as a litter box would be? You are in crisis and need good care if you are to do as well as you can. Keep us posted and I sure hope you life somehow improves.

Gentle ((hugs)) shared precious Mike.
