Learning & learning again...
OK, for any or all who thought that I have it all together, I haven't.
I cannot fix everything or everyone. Surprise? Also, if someone doesn't want to get along, I can't make them happy, like me, or be nice. Each individual is responsible for their own life, own happiness, own decisions, and choices.
What can I do? I can love, listen, care, support, pray but it is THEIR decision on whether to have a good life or not, be happy or not, etc. I can give them the advice, tools, and all the other "tricks" in my bag, but it is they that must USE them.
What have I learned....the PTSD monster is just that, a monster, but there are tools that can get me through each episode. I've learned I've more "triggers" than I used to, so I hope that I am not going to be "collecting" those. ROFLOL Those are NOT the types of things one wants more of.
As for panic attacks, yep, still getting those. Those usually come willy nilly but paying bills, money concerns, and the ever popular concern of having a panic attack will set them off. Not to mention the PTSD.
I have a great compulsion to go to the old mines and get a rock from there. No, I'm not morbid, just a "security blanket" as my counselor said is "normal". If it sounds morbid, I do so apologize as I don't want to offend. If I could have it, I'd desire a chunk of the actual rock which took my dad from me. That's not possible...so I will settle for one that is at least from the mine site.
Normal? Someone please explain this term to me? Normal to an insane person is a straight jacket in solitary. Normal to a murder is killing people. Normal is such a random term... What is "normal"? I think it only exists on a dryer and even there it isn't "normal" anymore but fluff, air, timed, wrinkle guard, etc. See, even dryer's manufacturers can't figure out "normal" and they are dealing with machines!
OK, must run. Doing well in my Mentorship Program, still trying to finish up my Discipleship Program, and working on my Ministerial Counseling Accrediation.
