Learning I have Parkinson's Disease.

Hello Community,
On April 7, 2011 I was told by my neurologist that I have Parkinson's.  That was one week ago today.  I have spent the last week researching Parkinson's support groups and how I can "manage" my condition as it worsens.  I have entered a physical therapy program.  I have told my extended family and close friends that I have Parkinson's.  I am trying to stay optimistic and maintain my sarcastic sense of humor.
The day I was told I had Parkinson's I was very dismayed.  My mother-in-law died of Parkinson's several years ago.  She was unable to care for her self the last two years of her life.  Her husband acted as the care-giver and she was kept at home.  I do not want or plan "to go out" as she did.  In the interim I plan to live a life as full as possible.  Hopefully, the interim period will be measured in years.
