Learn Chemical / P.T.S.D.

I begin this with a Post Reply, but I will be adding anything I find in my search for answers & education about this particular piece of the P.T.S.D. experience. Thanks to anyone who has anything to add to it!!

Get to know all the chemical changes in your brain with PTSD and with a PTSD flare up. Most enlightening. See, we are not a bunch of symptoms, there is neural causality. We're not just weirdos, our brains have been injured. We can learn the neurostrasmitters and the glucocoritcoids, then know Why something happens. Then know that it is not US, that we are not Flawed or Unworthy, or unwell in a psychological way (some are), we just have this stuff in our brains that we have to learn how to deal with and live around. PTSD also affects the entire endocrine system and the limbic system. Not Because we have PTSD, but because our brains were dented and they work differently now, or differently than other people's. Don't keep a doctor who says, Don't keep a psych who asks you why you don't Want to sleep. Bad medicine. He/she should know why you Don't sleep. It's part of the vasty array of elements in the syndrome of PTSD. I wish you well. "Know your illness." was the cry when I first met a bunch of people with brain imbalances, like us. Know it better than anyone else. It is yours to heal. No one else can do it for you, they can help. Your Determination is key. You will make it. We can be functional members of society, without anyone knowing we have a chemical imbalance, we just have to be gentle with ourselves and not take on too much stress. I wish you well, and I'm sending great big good thoughts your way. Thanks for the posting.
