Last night
Last night Joe took me to the restaurant/bar down the road. He had already drank before we got there. While we were there, we saw two people he knew. The one was a former co worker and this coworker seemed to want to avoid him. Of course, Joe was oblivious to this however i picked up on this. His coworker was uncomfortable around him. He drank more and I sat there just watching. The smoky room was getting to me so we left and came home. Before we left, Joe mentioned that I needed to work on my social skills. I said "yes, maybe, but how about I dont change you and you dont change me" and I then said "Sometimes it's best to listen and not talk all the time", besides when Joe is drunk noone else can get a word in.
When we got home I was tired and could see Joe remained outside drinking so I shut the door and went to bed. Apparently, Joe slept in the recliner all night and there was vomit on his shirt this morning. He went straight to the bed and got in it. He was in a bad mood. Alcohol is a downer and I'm not putting up with this anymore.
So..I made biscuits and gravy for myself..getting dressed and going to deliver groceries. I've got to make a decision by June 1st. That's where I'm at.

I was watching an interesting movie the other day that someone recommended in the AA group. It's called "Pleasure Unwoven" ,,,It was written by a doctor who was a naval flight surgeon who also had a problem with substance abuse. It will give you an interesting picture into Joe's mind and help you understand why alcoholics don't think there is anything wrong with them.
Joe's addiction, negatively affects everyone around him which could explain why the person was trying to avoid him, in the restaurant.
You see what Joe is doing? In his mind, YOU'RE the problem because you lack social skills. He does this rather then turn the spotlight on himself. There is no way out for him until he takes responsibility for his drinking and all the collateral damage he has caused for others, as a result of his drinking..
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
God Bless
What is so special about June 1st?
