Last night

I need to go to soccer tonight to burn off steam, worry, and calories.  Soccer is so helpful to me - I love it!  Unfortunately, because of my power walking/running my collar bone started acting up again.  It actually hurt ( a wee bit) when I played soccer. Oh well...  such as life!
In addition, I am really enjoying teaching art classes to the preschoolers.  This time around I have such a delightful, adorable class.  It's great therapy!  They make me laugh!
Tomorrow morning I meet with my state legislator to discuss the possibility of introducing a bill to mandate parent drug education classes.  I am no longer interested in the "naysayers" that either don't want to rock the boat or feel that their parental rights are being impinged upon.  This issue is way too important.  It's about safety - of not only our own children, but our community children and the community as a whole. I am very frustrated what is going on in my own community (only 6 parents showed up for the high school "program").  The school districts I'm modeling from (another state) have a 95% compliance for their new mandatory.  The difference is - these were mandated by the districts NOT THE STATE.  I wish our area would get on the band wagon - taking a proactive approach rather than being forced to do it.  Time will tell.  I did give the MS Principal copies of the newspaper articles I have about what the other districts are doing - and the success of these programs and maybe - just maybe he can "sell" the idea to the HS Principal.  Since the high school Principal doesn't seem interested in meeting with me - hopefully his friend, the middle school principal, will show him the possibilities.
Note:  According to the newspaper articles, and the various school board members from these districts that supported mandatory, they said that the parents who weren't pleased about being "forced" changed their minds once they were educated about this issue.  And even at the last program we presented (teachers gave extra credit points to the students and parents that attended the program) I was told (by a friend who sat in the audience) that a set of parents were complaining about having to be there (before we presented) but afterward my friend said that those same parents said that they were very glad they went.  THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I DECIDED TO MOVE FORWARD ON THIS.  It ain't easy, however, because the high school Principal is not responding to me - which is why I guess I'll have to push it at the state level.  Don't want to but he's not giving me a choice.

I know I should go to the doctor. I\'ve just been foolishly putting it off because I\'m afraid he\'s going to tell me to stop playing soccer. But -- it\'s not a wise decision to put it off. The game ended up in a tie. I was happy about that because last time this same team \"killed us\".
