Last Day at my Mom's
Since I got home late yesterday and today isn't going to be that exciting, I decided that I'm just going to write for yesterday today. I'm on the train today, so there's not going to be too much happening. Yesterday was a fun day... My mom took half the day off from work so we could go to St. Augustine and walk around the shops. My only regret is that I didn't buy anything to remember the trip by, but my mom said that I might be able to come back next month. She is thinking of taking her vacation time off of work for a week next month so we can hang out together. She has all this vacation time to use by the end of the year, but most of the time after October is blocked out, so she has to use it soon. I can't believe it's almost September already! I'm still having trouble connecting that it's 2011, not to mention almost 2012. I looked at my train ticket today and it said 8/23/11 and I thought it was wrong for a second and should have been 2010. At least I'm in the right decade. I had trouble adjusting to the new century for a long time. I kept thinking it just looked wrong. I think a lot of people had to get used to it.
Okay, there I go off on a tangent again. I wanted to talk about my time with my mom. I had a good time, and I'm glad she took the half day off. We walked around St. Augustine a bit, and got to see all the touristy places. I saw the Castillo San Marcus, and I wanted to just see the lighthouse but I missed it. I didn't want to go to the lighthouse to go in, just to see it from a distance. I don't want to go up to the lighthouse again until I can walk the stairs to the top. I have to start practicing at home on the stairs there. I know it's going to be good cardio! I went to the lighthouse before, but I couldn't walk up the stairs. It was a combination of being out of shape and just feeling this pressing weight when I walked in there. I sure didn't feel good in there, I can tell you that much. They say it's haunted, and I could agree with them based on what I felt when I went inside. They say the house next to it is haunted as well in the basement, but I didn't feel much of anything when I went down there. I think there were just too many people there for me to fully enjoy it. My mom and I went in, and we both enjoyed it.
Overall, my trip to see my mom was really nice. I got to spend some good quality time with her at dinner last night. It was just the two of us at Longhorn Steakhouse. Despite the fact that she was not happy with the service or the food at first, it turned out to be a good time. Her husband got me some Lunchables at Walmart. I was happy that he remembered to get me something for lunch on the train. He can be a nice guy when he's not drunk. When he's drunk, then that's something totally different. He's not really abusive, but he argues a lot and gets really loud. Yelling is something that I've never really been able to handle that well. I get scared and think that I'm going to get hurt when someone starts yelling, so it stresses me out a lot. I think it goes back to my childhood, where my dad wouldn't really yell at us, but he would lecture us. My dad never hit me or my sister, but occasionally he hit my brother but not too hard. He would yell and then sometimes hit him. My brothers would yell at me and hit me too. I just associate yelling with pain. It sucks, because Geo has never made a move to hit me, but when he yells I get scared anyway. He gets upset that I don't trust him, but it's not that I don't trust him, it's that I've been scarred by my past.
Food yesterday was bad, and today was bad. I've been eating a lot of junk and stuff, but trying to keep salads in there too. Yesterday I had pot roast for breakfast, grilled cheese for a snack, a salad and half a BLT for lunch, and fried shrimp with a salad for dinner. I also had 2 mojitos. Today I've eaten my steak for breakfast, Lunchables for lunch, and I have some pasta to keep me going later. I also have some Fiber One bars, and it's going to be time for me to get back on my diet soon!
