Last Day
Distractions havenae been working well for this particular wait. My interest in outside potentials has been limited. I find myself wondering if I am still in the wait pattern I have been holding since my now middle aged sons were approaching their age of independence. For the sake of simplicity, I will mark the start of that wait as 2002 when the youngest graduated High School, but I was already feeling obsolete by then, as it should be. That gap between child and adult is not as sudden as a ceremony. Indeed, I find myself bracing for the proverbial bum's rush that was a well-established cliche in the family cycle by that 2002 graduation. It felt more appropriate when the children were physical children. A rush from middle-aged children feels even more daunting than a rush from siblings. Maybe just because of the proximity. It has been allot of years since I have experienced a sibling rush.
Whatever the evers of all those whats, this round of the housing wait is nearly over. The inspection/financial parts are done and tomorrow morning is the closing. If all the ifs come into alignment, I will be transferring utility accounts shortly thereafter. It is possible I will be setting up the camp equipment there tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I will give Boy Toy his long overdue bath, also. His hold hasnae been completely empty since we left Texas in March. For political reasons, he was dirtier than I typically let my vehicles get when we left. Technically, he is still not my vehicle.
Hubs is flying in for a visit on the 6th. He wanted to drive, but only has a week off from work. That doesn't leave enough time to enjoy any of the natural or civil wonders between here and Texas, so he decided to go for the shortest time investment. I am quite anxious to find out if the new precedent has put a ding in the old dynamics. I don't know if a single vacation week will be a fair measure of changes in a living cycle, but we gotta start somewhere. Prayers ongoing.

Congrats on your upcoming closing! Wishing you all the best!!!
You got to closing that fast! Go you:-) Prayers and purrs from the puma. (And can he take BoyToy back or transfer title or something so you don't have to worry? Or is that too.... uh.... out-of-dynamic? I ask b/c I have no clue. It seems obvious to me, but then again, my what-the-whats aren't anyone else's.)
My favorite vehicles to drive are fleet vehicles. I include rentals and mass transit as fleet vehicles. I have formal work experience with US Army and City government to reinforce the preference. I love machines, but I don't bond with them any more deeply than I bond with my screwdrivers. They are a tool and nothing more. I works with what's available. The automotive romance remains a mystery to me, especially when it chugs through father/son dynamics. I feel safer dealing with a cop's reaction than theirs.
But. . . Dare I hope for a shift in that dynamic, as well? I believe in miracles. . .
I have worked at forming bonds with my cars. I don't think I can say I have ever loved any of the many, and their has been a few real nice ones. I have noted a few vehicles that I would poof out of the world if I could, like any that have a boom box blasting at me. I find my driving pleasure depends on how well I know what to expect from a vehicle's response and behavior. I do talk to them, mostly in my head, they rarely respond to my jabbering.
I do believe there has been a change in the dynamics of Hubs response system, maybe a little quicker to see the affect he is having on you, and wanting to help not hinder. I am thinking the visit may be to see if there could be a place for him to escape to when the chadults give him the bums rush.
prayers for joyful visit.
Congrats on your closing... and your insights. Hugs.
