Dearest,
Sorry I’m late but I was in the hospital. I had some troubling symptoms so I called “The Voice of Doom”. He decided it was serious enough for a CT scan. I had large kidney stones in both kidneys, one kidney was totally blocked and has been for decades, the other had a stone as large but it wasn’t blocking my kidney. Well, not completely. Seemed to be a life-threatening situation. They wanted to put a stent in and try to break up the kidney stone in the good kidney right away. The urologist said that it was a quick and easy procedure, in and out and I’d back at work in a day or two. I was there all day and then transferred to the hospital where I had to stay overnight. Exactly one year to the day of your passing I was in the same place, I thought about that. I figured that I was following you exactly one year later. Anyway, I’m back home now and the pain is subsiding. A follow up CT scan showed that the stone was completely blasted away, into dust apparently. I still have to go get the stent out but hopefully that will be much simpler.
My hospital adventure was a desperate and painful trial. When I tell people about some of the things that happened they say that it sounds like a Monty Python skit. I guess you could look at it that way but not when it’s you that’s the butt of the joke.
As soon as I’m well enough I’ll come visit you. I’m still trying to recover from all the crap they did to me at the hospital. It was really bad not having you when I had to go through all this shit. I’m glad that you never had to feel so all alone.
As always your Ken

Ken,
I\'m so sorry you had to go through this alone, especially on the one year anniversary of your dear Abby\'s passing. Hopefully you are healing and the prognosis is good. Scary stuff hospitals and procedures and doctors (who sometimes are younger than our children!)...
Blessings,
Linda
Ken when we are sick is one of the times we miss them the most. I am glad you are feeling better and everything worked out okay. You had your guardian angel looking after you, Hugs Lu Ann
Ken, I\'m glad you are ok. It\'s funny how you can see the paralells of misery and comedy. I\'ve heard kidney stones are very painful. I know it had to be, for you to call \"The Voice of Doom\" Take care of yourself, and I know you will have plenty to tell Abby when you visit.

I hope your better...

I am sooo sorry you had to go through this! I don\'t know first hand, but I\'ve heard that kidney stones are very very painful.
I get it - the parallel of your dearly beloved and you both in hospital at the same time (one year later). Kinda weird, that. I had a dream that I was in hospital and the nurses and doctors were checking my oxygen saturation with that little device called an oxymeter. Now I don\'t have lung disease, but that\'s what David died of. I still carry his oxymeter in my purse (along with his wallet, so he travels with me).
In my mind, our late husband/wife is within us, so this is why we share similar experiences, even hospital ones.
Sending hugs and hope you feel better soon.
Ken,
I am sorry that you had to be facing that on the anniversary of Abby\'s death. As a veteran of two kidney stones.....although I always think of them as \"boulders\".......I am glad that is over for you and hope you will heal with no further problems. Nothing makes us feel more alone than being sick or hurt without our other halves there to comfort us.
So sorry you had to go through all that in the hospital. Hope your getting better each day.

Hello Ken, sorry to hear about all you\'ve been through and glad you are getting better.....hope you recuperate fast....take it easy....ditto what everyone else has said....hugs, Sandi
