Kozmo Is Gone...

When I woke during the night,  he was sprawled out in the kitchen.  He wasn't himself.   I did pet and spend some time with him and told him I do love him sooo much, but understand if it is his time to go.   This morning , he had moved to the guest bathroom floor by the vent  (likes the air .... whether cool or warm when it was cold out) He was not huffing, but I thought just barely breathing.   Now he is gone.   :(

Yesterday he had been struggling more again.  Huffing and puffing. When Stbx got back from an errand, he did get up like normal to go greet him as he was coming back into the house.  Again, Kozmo did have trouble and lose strength with the back legs.

I do know it is a blessing for him because I do believe there was more going on.   But there is an incredible emptiness now where my protector, and best bud used to be.  He is one of the last reasons to keep me here.    Today is Stbxs foot surgery.  He is taking this very hard as well.  (Don't think he saw it coming like I did)

THIS IS A VERY BAD DAY!

I am sorry about the loss of your furry friend. This is never easy. 2 yrs. ago, I lost 2 of my little fur babies that I had for 16 yrs. Roxie was a rat terrier and Pete was a minature Doberman. When we lose these, it's like losing a family member. My thoughts are with you. I know this is sad.

Hi queen. Big hugs and love. Sorry to hear that he passed. But like you said: if he was suffering then it was his time. I believe the ones we love are never really lost. They live on in our hearts. And become part of the cosmos (no pun intended) just like every drop of water that’s on Earth. No more is created and none is lost. An ever renewing cycle. Always available when you look at it right. When you miss him too much, close your eyes and imagine him near you. Breathe and love.

I’m sorry. I lost my dog a few months ago and it’s still so hard sometimes. Their presence fills every room in the house so when they are gone it’s like being in a stranger’s house at first. It’s so unsettling. You barely know what to do with yourself.

Anyway, what always have to convince myself is that their are worse things than dying. They look to us to help them transition when they are no longer able to be and do what they are born to be and do. You held up your end of the relationship. I think that’s all out pets ask of us, that we just try to do right by them. That is pure selfless devotion.

But isn’t it the truth that grief is the price we all pay for loving them. My heart goes out to you.
