Kit's Special Friends
Kit is one of the most friendly dogs I have ever known. He loves everybody and is the hit of the apartment complex. But, there are four people that are his special friends. They're special in that HE chose them. He looks forward to seeing them every time I take him out to do his thing and is disappointed when he doesn't. Why he chose these four people is a mystery to me. They're all different. His first friend is a Viet Nam war vet. He met him on an early morning outing. The man was sitting in a chair across from the elevator and Kit just went wild. I pushed him over to the man and he wanted to jump out of the cart. For about three days in a row, the man was there when the elevator door opened. Then, we started missing him. Maybe our timing was off, but Kit was visibly disappointed when the man wasn't there. When we did see him,(it wasn't always in the place they met.) Kit acted like he saw a long lost friend. His second friend is a woman who rides a scooter. Kit met here when we went to get the mail one afternoon. He saw her and started jumping up and down in his cart. There were two or three other people there, but by watching him, I was able to guide him to her. The third friend is a maintenance man for the complex. He has a hearing problem, wears a hearing aid, and has difficulty speaking. They met when the man came to the apartment to repair something, but they really bonded when the man saw us in the courtyard and came out to play with him. The man knelt down and Kit leaped at him. Although he was on a long leash, Kit would run away and right back, leaping into the man's arms. His fourth friend is our next door neighbor. She has a dog of her own and we met when both of us were taking our friends outside. I don't know why Kit chose these people. There is nothing in common with the four of them, but he has sensed something in each of them that warrants them being special friends.

I\'m hoping that not only Kit is making friends, but that Mike is making friends too..... we all need that social interaction to keep us connected to the outside world, and away from the madness of our own thoughts, LOL. I am a regular home body, don\'t like to go out if i don\'t have to, like to just putter by myself, but i use my job as a social platform to talk and laugh and just be my outgoing self. I sure love reading about Kit\'s friends. He sounds like a really nice dog. I have two dogs. One of them loves everybody--two and four-legged! The other one is afraid of almost everyone and pulls to go home when I\'m taking them for a walk. She has a couple of people she likes, but it\'s rare for her.
