Kinda Good News !?!
Well, good news and sad news, but good news for me, I think. The Board finally got their act together and sorted out my job description, the organisational chart, and my pay rate. I'm being back paid and made permanent from the end of February!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm very happy about that, as you would imagine! I got a very nice pay increase too!! Of course, I've already worked out how to spend the money, hehe. The sad news.... they have made a decision to close the nursing home BUT.... there is good news out of that we hope!!!! Nearly all the residents want to stay local. There is a nice new home only a couple of minutes away, that is prepared to work with us to take the residents and most of the staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All we need to get is approval from the government to turn their low care beds into high care beds and sort out the details and things will be good. That way the residents will still be together with the same staff, but just in a lovely new building (not our old falling down one)!! I, and everyone else, will be absolutely rapt if that came happen. Everyone wins! Families don't have to go any further to visit their relies and staff will get a pay out and a job. I will have a lot of winding up to do after this all happens, but the good news is the Board will still have the site free of debt to be able to investigate other options - which will be wonderful!! They can look at a whole range of health care options like rehab, respite, community care, etc, etc. So I could have a continuing job with them for some time to come, just managing the projects with a bet of luck...... I'm feeling really good about the options ahead for everyone, including myself.Mind you.... the next few weeks are going to be absolutely chaotic. We have to start giving notice to staff, working out termination payments, etc.And of course the number one priortity, is to get the relatives relocated without upsetting them too much. Fingers crossed for me please that it all goes ahead, and then at that, fairly smoothly. I need all the good vibes I can get. I'll be working long hours, so may not be around as much for a while, but I'll still be checking in and out - you guys are my sanity!!!!
