Kids rule
Going to the cemetery to visit Dina's grave is tricky in that she is buried in the city where we were born and raised but we bought our home about 15 miles from there. Because of work and getting home to my daughter I am rarely able to get there during the week so I try to make it a priority on the weekends. I always ask my daughter if she wants to go. She's only 3 so if she says no I am fine with that, I'm not going to force her. The past two weekends she said yes when I asked her. So we went on Father's Day. When we got there she ran around a little like she has the few other times I have brought her. This time she picked a few dandelions that were nearby and said they were for Mama. It was so sweet but at the same time it got me emotional. In the two months since Dina has passed I haven't hidden my emotions from my daughter because I want her to know that it is okay to be sad and miss Mama. And this time was no different. Without missing a beat she looked at me and said 'you don't have to be sad now, we're with Mommy!'. And then she just went back to playing. It was exactly what I needed right then and things like that are why I assume these two+ months have seemed easier than I expected so far.
