Kidney update

Hi everyone... I went to see my regular DR yesterday. He went over the Nephrology report on my last visit and immediately took me off two of my meds (Symbicort and Amalodine) then wrote for Lasix, Hydralazine and Metoprolol. My sugars are OK and the BP is a tad high but not worried. He seems to think that we (might) be able to get me back to stage 3 and out of stage 4 Kidney disease.
I am not looking forward to the options if I cannot get back.
I have more labs to do in a week, then the next nephrology appt on the 21st... That one might be the one that sends me over the top. Maybe it will be good enough that he will give me another month before making a decision..... I will pray!  I'll keep my friends posted!
Den

Denny I too have diabetes I am insulin dependent. I take lasix and other meds for heart failure. I was diagnosed with both as a young adult (21 and 22). Lasix is a bummer but luckily I only need it occasionally. Diabetes is no joke but as I am sure you have learned to live with it. Stay positive and try to be healthy. I believe what you out in the universe is what you get back. Happy heathy thoughts to you.!

Thanks to all... I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic 34 years ago (at age 30) then stage 3 Kidney disease 2 years ago. Stage 4 Kidney disease this past April but DR didn\'t tell me until July 3rd... Bummer. I am working on it, I too take the Lasix every 3rd day unless I swell up too much! My pill list is extensive and noteworthy!

Dear Den,

I have done a lot of research in this area; since I too some years ago was diagnosed with T2 diabetes. My AIC was clocked at 16.5; fasting bg at 393. Seven months prior to this I was taking high blood pressure medications; at that point my fasting bg was 91.

Because my bg jumpped soo high; I began doing a lot of research. I found out that most heart medications cause blood sugar to do this. When I asked my doctor whether or not there was possibly a connection between the hp meds and the high blood sugar, I got silence. I thought that perhaps I had asked something very stupid. My doctor also wanted me on a statin drug. Because of what I was finding out, I refused. I also began to find out that most target numbers for disease definition have been steadily moved downward...read that fasting blood sugar in the 70\'s was 200 and above to be suspected of having diabetes. Now any number over 100 leads to more test to prove that you are diabetic. The same has been done with other numbers for bld pressure, cholesterol, etc. Most of these panels included a significant number of doctors who have DIRECT financial ties to the pharma drug company making the drug to \"maintain\" the disease. NEVER CURE.

Now that over high of Americans over the age are being \"maintained\" by drug therapy, the prices of everything is being raised significantly. In some cases as much as 8,000%, and this includes over half of the generic drugs.

What happened to me was that I started paying more attention to diet, took some herbal remedies, and kept forgetting to take the hbp meds, took the diabetic meds religiously...(as a result of suffering blurred vision which lasted for a couple of months - scary). Surprise surprise, my bg dropped hundreds of points. At the time I was on the lowest dose of metformin...my reg. doctor wanted me to come in for more medications...I refused.

From some of the diabetic websites I sometimes read...more and more people are dropping the heart medications because of the increasingly known fact that it rises blood sugar. It makes dealing with diabetes more problemic; increased medications are often needed in order to lower the blood sugar.

IMPORTANT RE: STATINS - raises blood sugar, but also raises the incidence of kidney failure and the need for dialysis. google this...your doctor will not tell you this.

SOME IMPORTANT WEBSITES/BOOKS TO HELP BRING YOUR HEALTH BACK: Deathtodiabetes.com, mercola.com, utube - deathbymedicine by Dr. Joseph Mercola - 8 minutes, Dr. Gary Null also has same type of video -its over an hour and more comprehensive. utube video: The TRUTH about blood pressure and cholesterol - appro 45 minutes. BOOK: Selling Sickness, How the large pharmaceutical companies are making patients out of all of us.

NOTE: Americans represent only 4-5% of the world\'s population and we take over 50% to 80% (opiates) of the world\'s pharmaceuticals. In addition, we pay many many times more for the same meds from the same company than other countries in the world. Within the last couple of years the increase has gone up on some drugs as much as 8000%. On some health statistics our health as a whole often ranks among 3rd world countries.

Dear Rev,

Please let me know that you received my message. I see that your last post was probably in August 2013. But my fingers remain crossed.
