Kick Into Gear
I'm not generally a "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" kind of girl. My grandmother was, but as much as I admired her, I just don't tick that way.
That said, years of therapy taught me that sometimes you have to "fake it til you make it". It's not always the best solution, but sometimes it's at least a solution. I still keep having these feelings of inadequacy and have been questioning my worth, but really, what is there to do except wallow or else believe that I at least have the potential to be a valuable human being.
So, I'm going with the potential thing and just trying to figure out some things I can do that will help me to feel like I'm on the right track. Exercise is my #1 priority. It certainly can't help, and strong bodies help build strong minds.
I also need to reinvest in my altruistic pursuits. For awhile, my daughter and I were volunteering at the local shelter. She continued, but other activities conflicted with me being able to help out there. Frankly, I don't think that helping out there was really for me. My skill set belongs elsewhere.
Hm. Maybe that's really the pith of my issue. I DO have skills and value, but none of it is being put to use. Maybe it's not that I'm worthless, but that my worth is being wasted and my subconscious has set off alarm bells so that I'll take notice and get on track. If only I knew what those skills were. Heh.
I really admire people who just KNOW what their destiny is and follow it with arrow straight precision.
