keeping my eyes on the prize

Things have been quiet, no drama, no arguments. I have been tempted a few times but am deciding more carefully which battles to take on at the moment. i am strictly adhering to my expectations of sobriety, and responsible use of prescribed medications of all sorts and reinforcing his self reliance in this healing process: post surgically, medically and emotionally. I will not tolerate disrespect, and feel no guilt when I reinforce the boundaries. And, although, all seems fine on the surface I will not be lulled into that false sense of security as I have in the past.  Where addiction slips back in unnoticed at first because I have foolishly trusted a man who repeatedly lies and manipulates in order to serve his own wants. I think, also, that if I can take a step back and watch what unfolds now in a completely objective way, it is going to get interesting.  Does he really believe I will stick to my guns?  Does he really believe I haven't figured it out by now?  Is he really committed?  and how will he respond when he realizes the rules of the game have changed? Most importantly, how will he react (when and if) he sees that in the time he has wasted trying to figure out way to continue using in secret that I have moved on with a healthier, more satisfying life of my own choosing?  Will he even know why he has been left behind? Any way I continue moving forward with grateful love to all of you who have and will continue to support and teach me.
