Just writing my thoughts

Things seem to be going pretty well the past couple of weeks.  Not sure if that is due to school being out or the different approach we have been taking since starting the parenting classes.  Maybe it's both, but I won't know for sure until he starts school again in August.  He still refuses to go to therapy, hopefully I will be able to get him through this, god knows I have been through enough therapy the past couple of years. My hubby and I went to see the therapist yesterday and we all agreed that we can take the rest of the Summer off and reconvene when school starts if things go bad again. Hopefully they won't.  My son actually announced a goal for himself while we were driving a couple of days ago.  He said he can't wait to get he degree in business so he can start his own car business when he grows up and wants to work with his dad.  He's even named the business, M&M Motors. I didn't even bring up the fact that he had to be successful in Middle and High School to get to college, nor did I mention his unwillingness to apply himself at school and is letting the learning disabilities get the best of him.  I just told him that was an awesome goal and I could totally see him being successful at acheiving this goal. I am not going to worry about the future, I am going to enjoy this 'break' we are getting and plan to enjoy my kids. One more parenting class to go and I am loving it. It is so much less stressful raising my kid with love rather than fear.  No more rewards/consequence charts or ignoring him. I now can see past the behavior when it appears and see a scared child and am able to help him get through it.  Calmness consumes me at this moment.
