I know there are a lot of new people being diagnosed with CML, and there is no rhyme or reason as to why we get it. If anyone is reading this, please know that if you had to get this disease it happened at a good time.
That probably sounds crazy, but its really not. I was diagnosed in 1998, and there was no treatment like we have now. I was very blessed that my CML did not progress further before I could get on the new clinical trial for Gleevec. I was diagnosed at Christmas in 1998, and thought I would never see another holiday.
This Christmas will be my 12 Christmas to celebrate since my diagnosis, and I have been PCRU which means undetected for CML cancer cells for 7 years. I hope I get to see the cure for all Leukemia's in my lifetime.
