Just Me being Me
Yesterday, I went to a hospital 20 miles East of where I live and visited a friend of mine at the hospital. He is 82 and not doing well. His wife passed away this past year. I then drove South about 34 miles to a friend of mine's home. He got his hand in a planer and cut a finger off at the first joint, 2 days ago. I then drove to another hospital about 45 miles away and visited another friend who is gravely ill then, drove back home.
Today, I done a few odd things around the house and got a phone call that another friend of mine was being air lifted to a hospital about 60 miles North of where I live. I called his wife and she said he coded so, they had to put him on a ventilator. He has emphysema very very bad and they have almost lost him twice before. His son is in Afghanistan at the present time but, is due home in a couple of weeks.
I have another friend who is dying of Pancreatic Cancer. He was my Deacon in the church I previously Pastored. He wasn't expected to make it to New Years. He is one of the finest men, I have ever known. All these things sadden me. I also have a dear friend here on DS having some real issues as well. My prayers are with all of these mentioned. I try to stay "UP" most of the time but, man, it's hard to do at certain times.
It just seems like when it rains, it pours. There has been so much sickness around this fall and early winter. Pneumonia, upper respiratory infections, sinus infections, etc. It is unreal.
Tomorrow, Lord willing, I will do my regular church service then go back to the hospital to see my friend again, that is 82.
