Just Joined a Problem Gambling Support Group
I am excited about joining the support group that I just joined. I have been battling this addiction since 2005 (I just didn't know it then). It got progressively worse after my dad died of a sudden heart attack in May of 2004. I quit seriously at the end of March, 2011, and I have had a few relapses along the way. I gambled 3 times since then. I have not gambled on been near a casino now, since November 26, 2012. I have very pleased with how I am doing right now in my recovery. I know that I am at the point that I need to help people and share my experiences with them. Also, I am hoping to make some friends and be there to support them when they need support, and I am looking to get support from these same people when I need support. I held off from doing this for awhile because I thought that I could do it with my excellent support group that I have around me at work, at home, and with my counselor. I am doing very well with that support group, but I feel that I need to connect with some people that have actually experienced some of the same experiences that I have had to experience because of my gambling addiction. I am looking forward to meeting new people.

Hi Sue, I too am a woman compulsive gambler from PA. I placed my last bet 8/14/12 so I\'m relatively new to recovery too. This group can be very helpful but I have also found that attending GA meetings (I go to 3 a week) is the best therapy and has helped me stay gamble free. I have also made many new friends who understand the addiction and where we have been. Good luck with your recovery and consider trying a GA meeting.

Thank you Robin for writing to me. It is comforting to know that I am not alone. You are doing really well with your recovery. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to chatting with you in the future. We can all do it! We just have to do it one day at a time. No gambling today, and no gambling tomorrow! Take care. I live between Hanover, and York, PA. What part of PA are you from?
Hi Sue.....so happy to have you here with us. My story is very similar to Robin...in fact her and I have had the opportunity to have lunch. I am in west Chester PA. I\'ve been GF just over a year, and found this wonderful site to be such a godsend throughout my journey. You\'ve got yourself another PA friend. Please keep up the great work and reach out whenever you feel the need!
Warm wishes
Lynn
Thank you so much! I look forward to chatting with both of you. Way to go! It is great that you went a year! Keep up the wonderful work!
