Just feeling good.

Nothing significant to add; I'm just feeling good. My son and I are about to leave for a ceremony in an hour, and a friend of mine also just gave me a beautiful buffalo skull with horns that he has used in Sun Dance ceremonies for over a decade. If you're not Native, it might be hard to understand what a significant gift that is, but let me tell you--it's trememndous.  I took my older son out to some tribal lands 25 miles west of here, and we met up with my buddy James, a medicine man/sun dance priest who is like a brother to me, and we just walked around lakes and creeks for hours until sunset. We saw raccoons, turtles, hawks, a heron, deer, and plenty of others. We started brainstorming about setting up an old-ways campsite there with tipis and bringing people in to teach them traditional skills. My son was hundreds of yards behind us, just exploring raccoon dens, catching frogs, trudging through cattail groves, picking up fossils, and listening to about 6 species of birds (while a million other kids were sitting in front of Grand Theft Auto, no doubt!).   My book will likely go to press in about a week; all I'm awaiting on is the Forward, which will be contributed by two writers. The cover is done, and I've claimed resurrectionafterrape.org for future use (there's a basic stub page there at the moment).

Wow that area and your son were in sounds beautiful. Your sons lucky to have a father like you that takes time to do those things with him.

And how cool would it be to do a week long camp for those kids that are sitting in front of Grand Theft Auto.... get them out of their houses and teach them about raccoon dens, catching frogs, trudging through cattail groves, picking up fossils, etc. Just a thought. *grin*

Most kids are so bizarre to me. They have no imagination. Seriously, it\'s like that part of their brain is missing! It seems like they\'re part of \'the borg\'... half human and half machine (T.V., cell phone, ipod, X-box, etc.) Parents need to \'unhook\' them and take them outside!

Okay... excuse my rant in your journal. lol All of that was to say \"Way to go dad!\"
