just empty

I woke up this morning with this empty feeling and then I remembered my Shadow is gone, gone forever and all I could do was cry. I know he was only a dog but he was part of my family and had been for the last 18 years. I had to tell my husband last night when he called and I could hear the heartbreak in his voice, he didn't want any details he just wanted me to send him some pictures. Even though it's been 7 years since he last saw Shadow he used to talk to him on the phone alot, I know that sounds corny but Shadow never forgot his voice, he would always get excited when he heard him on the other end of the phone and it always made my husband happy. All I have now are memories and I will keep them with me forever. He was such a good dog, I don't thin I will ever get another one it's to hard when they leave.

Oh I feel so sad for you. I remember losing my dogs. They are like best friends, that never judge and are always there to comfort us.

It gets easier after awhile. Takes time. I still miss all of my dogs. The one\'s that died, and the one I had to give up. But it gets better after awhile.

Pat I\'m sorry to hear you lost your dog, they can be our best friends at time. I have two and love them like my kids. One of our dogs we had for 17 years and when Mollie died it was so tough.
hang in there... Hugs and prayers to you!

Pat I\'m sorry about losing your beloved Shadow, they are our true companions, and give us unconditional love no matter what. I have a dog Chelsea Lynn that is now 13yrs old, and I dread the day I lose her. Big Hugs to you!

I am feeling your pain.. I have always been an animal lover.. I have 4 dogs right now and the latest addition is one I took in as a pregnant foster dog and she has grown on me.. I am having trouble parting with her..they are just all nothing but Love..unconditional Love..Shadow was not \"only a dog\" you know that!! He was a friend who was only happiest when you needed him!! He has been there when you cried with nothing but an eagerness to see you be happy again... don\'t downplay your sadness, grieve as you should and be glad that you are one of those people that understand how true the blessing of their companionship is in our lives!! He was a lucky dog to have you!

Thank you ladies, I do know that my Shadow is not in pain anymore and I was the lucky one to have had his unconditional love for 18 years. He will be missed but never forgotten.
