Just Blue Blue Blue
I have a twin brother, his name is Jeff. We are both 44 years old. I, like him, am
battling anxiety and lately depression as well. Jeff has a harder time than me, I think. He is a retired(due to health issues) police officer, and I currently a food service worker..Two years ago in July 09 my brother began bleeding heavily from his GI tract. Turns out, he's been drinking heavily for nearly 20 years, and walla he has stage 2 Cirrhosis. During that stay in the hospital, didn't look apparent that he was gonna pull through for nearly a month. He went through 19 units of blood transfusions in about a two day period. They did a TIPS procedure which reroutes his portal vein blood flow away from his liver. Somehow, by the grace of God, he is still with us today, but a big big mess. He takes lactolose to keep the ammonia levels down in his blood. he doesn't drink anymore, but seems he has become addicted to pain meds. Not sure though, his actions and words are hard to penetrate. In the latest three months he's been in the hospital more than out. His ammonia levels keep rising, the hospital gets them down, and sends him home. We found him on the hallway floor covered in feces and naked. Ambulance drivers and paramedics called him near comatose. Then released to an assisted living center that seems to have not monitored him closely enough, (maybe), and now he's back in the hospital with the highest blood ammonia levels yet, 134 ml. So, this has been my vacation this year. See why I'm blue.
