Just Another Week
Thursday, April 30, 2009 - 7:30 PM My absence from Daily Strength this week has been due to an illness as well as some lousy care from my home healthcare agency. Thanks to the latter, I wound up having another UTI, but that seems to have disappeared. There have been several small things, which needed to be taken care of, that I have managed to put off for quite some time. I finally decided to start working on them, and am now making a little headway. My brother and I have been exchanging some e-mail again. He seems to have changed personalities once again, and I am pleased to say that for the time being we are getting along with one another. We are scheduled to see my therapist on Monday morning. I was to see my therapist alone this Monday, but since we got an unexpected snowfall of five inches, I was unable to keep my appointment. Kathy, my favorite niece, is going into the hospital next week to have a biopsy for possible breast cancer. I am extremely upset about this. A lot of my time has been spent worrying about her. I am way behind on reading the journals here, so it looks as though I am going to be spending several hours trying to catch up during the weekend. At least I will have something worthwhile to do.

Hi Jim Your niece will be in my thoughts and prayers. I\'m glad you\'re doing ok. Hang in there. Hugs-Stephanie
Ditto on the niece.......
But stop worrying. Stock up on some greeting cards. Send flowers. Make plans to let her know you\'re thinking of her.
So what if you never have to use those plans. Make plans for a good outcome too.
Worrying is a result of not knowing what to do. Now you have some ideas.
I also had a thought about your brother.]
Do you think he\'s jealous of your therapy/therapists? (And doesn\'t realize it.) You\'ve shown a lot of bravery in there, in front of people. And while you still have your doubts and reservations, you must feel somewhere inside you that it\'s a safe place to start talking. (And I think it gets safer each time you go there, even if you don\'t realize it.)
I wonder if your brother feels the same energy? And it all at once confuses him, helps him feel safe too, angers him because he\'s so used to keeping all his \'stuff\' bottled up that not feeling that way is scary because it\'s unknown and different.
That would be a good thing... BUT IT SHOULDN\'T OVERTAKE THE FACT THAT THE SESSIONS ARE YOURS.
Like I said, it\'s just a thought.

One thing that will make things easier for you is not to worry about catching up on journals all weekend. Just start from where you are right now.
Think about it.
I am sorry to hear of yet another UTI....you must be so frustrated and filled with dismay. Consider the cranberry pills and PB 8 on Amazon.com or elsewhere.
It stopped all my problems with the first pills.
I will keep Kathy in my prayers.
I can understand your deep concern.
However, worrying will not change the outcome.
Consider keeping things simple for yourself and not add any additional stress to your daily endeavors.
That Weebs is thee best.
She has it all right...
They are really YOUR sessions.
Keep em that way.
This guy can be a power monger when it suits it.
He uses smoke, mirrors and, it seems, a multitude of different personality attributes to keep the focus off him or on him, depending on his whim.
Again, I am with the Weebs.
I think jealously abounds.
You are not aware the wealth of your own personal wealth.
You do not realize how you are seen by others.
I think you assume your appear one way, when actually, you are a pretty terrific, intelligent and very courageous man.
Easy does it, Jim.
This too shall pass.
I hope your brother\'s current personality is one that includes respect and admiration. I dream of having a brother like you. Stronger than most.
The jealousy thing makes a lot of sense to me. Perhaps it\'s even lingering jealousy from childhood. I remember getting jealous of my friend when she broke her arm because she got lots of attention. Do you think you got more attention than your brother?
Please be careful in the therapy. I know you can handle copious amounts of stress but I really wish you didn\'t have to. I\'m hoping that you see your brother in a different light now and that therapy is not as stressful as it once was.
Hugs and Mojo flying your way.
Many thanks for all of the concerns expressed here. There are several things happening in my life today, so I\'m having a lot of difficulty in getting my thoughts together. I have just learned that one of my nieces, her husband, and their young son, have taken a group of 10 students to Guatemala. It is my understanding that approximately 15 minutes ago there was a large earthquake somewhere west of Guatemala City. My brother is, understandably, concerned regarding their well-being.
In response to some things said here, I don\'t really have any thoughts as to whether my brother is jealous of me or not. Other than the fact that I probably did receive more attention than him when we were both children, I do not see where he would have anything to be jealous about.
I do not feel brave in my therapy sessions with my brother, but the more often we have one together, the stronger I feel. The fear that I used to have when being with him, has now dissipated somewhat. I guess that is probably a good sign.

*That\'s the man I see in the photo!!!!!!!!
