just a pity rant
I woke this morning with the parasthesia in my right leg again. Dragging my leg behind me more and more as I walked this morning. Grabbed my cane and came to work. I haven't been off of my cane but one day and here I am again. Seems that things are getting worse for me. Balance is also horrible. If I don't walk just so, I falter and my body wants to fall back. If my 13 year old son wasn't behind me this morning, I think I would have ended up on my butt on the front step. Lucky for me he is young and strong, even with a torn ACL.
Took him to his physical therapy last night. The therapist was impressed at how strong he is. His legs are strong and muscular. He really has some nice looking legs for a 13 year old boy. She told him that it is because he has such strong legs that he is able to walk without crutches. He asked her some questions because he has had so many kids and adults tell him that there is no way he tore his ACL because he is walking without crutches and isn't in pain. The therapist said that he won't have pain with the ACL because the ACL doesn't have nerves. She said pain is usually from other damage that people do to their knees that causes the pain. She told him that he has such strong legs that that is why he can walk without crutches. Also, he has a strong "soccer" muscle next to his knee and that keeps his knee cap from floating. The therapist said he is so strong that he could play sports now if he wears his brace for his knee. She is giving him some stretching and other exercises to do to further strengthen his legs to take some of the pressure off of his knee. He did super last night and already can straighten his leg out fully. She said he wasn't too bad at getting it straight in the first place. She seemed pretty impressed with him. She said they are going to work him hard and he will be stronger and be able to run faster and jump higher by the time he is done. At least that is a positive in my life.
Took my daughter to gymnastics. Funny how she hated it after the first night of going. She told me she didn't care to go back. I made her go of course because I had paid the money. Now, she is enjoying it. She just had a self confidence issue I think. Now she is getting stronger and better at it all the time. She is even enjoying it. I think it is good for her!
