June 20, 2011 - I leave for Denver tomorrow....
Today has been an uneventful day. Trying to get things done before I leave tomorrow. I had a hard time getting on Southwest.com to check myself in. I had to call my brother to do it. He did, A22. I was worried but I had paid the $30.00 extra to have them check me in. All I needed to do was print out the boarding passes. I went back on after lunch and printed out both boarding passes. Sorry Briman, unless you can fit into my suitcase, I can't have you come. I am leaving Buffalo at 11:45am tomorrow morning, arriving in Raleigh-durham around 1:30pm, leaving Raleigh-durham around 2:30 and arriving in Denver at 5:25pm their time. My brother is coming in on Wednesday but he is flying United at 4:30pm. He is leaving the same day as me, July 2. Told him that I would pick him up at 7:30pm (my flight arrives at 4:30pm) and take him home. All he needs to do is call me at home when he's at baggage claim and I will hop in my car to get him. We are stopping by my cousins daughters grad party on the way dropping him off (they live south of the city - 1/2 way from me and him). Debbie is taking me to the airport and we'll stop and have breakfast before hand.
How was my weekend? It went ok. I ran that St Gregs 5K Friday night. I did ok, roughly 43 minutes. I was only doing it to finish and get a good workout. I walked a lot more than the corporate challenge. It was about 80 degrees on friday - very humid and no wind whatsoever. I kept up with these 3 girls throughout the whole race (Briman, you know how that is, you find a few people and pace with them). I didn't know too many people. Like I said before, I've been out of the running loop so long that I received a lot of stares but no one really came up to talk to me. I went to a few people to strike a conversation. The finish line people I know pretty well because many years ago I was on the Buffalo Marathon committee. The one older guy, their director I've known for many years - he was there too. Gosh, I think he might be in his late 70's early 80's. He is walking really slow and wasn't showing excitement having people run through the finishline. Im really worried about him.
Saturday, I went clothes shopping at Target, JCPenney and Sears. At target, I had 2 gift cards, $40.00 and $25.00. I bought 5 tank tops, 1 exercise outfit. I only had to put about 9.50 of my own money in. Saved a ton there. Then I went to the mall, alittle north of me and at JCPenney I got a bathing suit, 2 pairs of shorts, 1 exercise pants. Then I went to Sears and bought a pair of shoes to match the dress and another pair of casual shoes. I made out like a bandit. The bad part was that I spent alittle more than expected. I am down to $140.00. I was suppose to get to the credit union but I think I will call them and have them deposit over the phone the extra $100.00 into my savings so I can use my card. I'll just be alittle careful of my spending while Im down there. I really wanted to have $200.00. Thats ok. It will work out. I got the $$ for my brother toward the room for the wedding ($250.00). I'm hoping that the room bill will be less than $250.00. I'll be ready.
I wanted to purchase some Cookbooks from our 100th anniversary of the hospital for my aunts and sister but there is no way I can afford it right now.
Sunday - Fathers day. Did the same thing for dad that we did with mom. Go for breakfast. Cost me $15.00 for Dad and I, My brother paid for mom ($15.00 for him). That was ok. I planned on that anyways. Then I stayed the day out in Angola, until Dinner. Dad was funny - like always he said "eating and running, huh". Sorry - when we eat at 7pm on a work night. I need to get going. I left my parents at 7pm and got home at 7:45pm. I made my trail mix that I will be taking with me to snack on during the trip. I made too much, Its in a large tuperware container. I will measure it out and put it in snack size ziploc baggies. I might make about 8-10 baggies, that should hold for the next week. Knowing my sister, she will make dinner again at 10pm and need something to tied me over.
Today, Jen wanted me to finish those binders for new nurses. She is ultra concerned that there will be a strike within the hospital system (I am non union). Its a lot to do with the cost of insurance. She needs it for the agency nurses incase there is one. We won't know until July 10th if this will happen. Its all kinda crazy. So, I spent all morning working on these things. She planned on presenting it to Diane over at Buffalo General Today (she's gone for the day, Mary is on vacation, Todd is out sick - no one's here so I am doing a journal, so there!). Sonja, Michelle and I were the only ones here today. I didn't get much accomplished today but guess what - it will have to wait until July 5th until I get back. Tonight I have to pack, drop Tika off at Tom's so I will be busy.
