Jumping to Conclusions
Ok, so maybe I was being presumptious thinking that my son was "punishing" me by being late for school. It turns out that he actually overslept! (His light was on, so I thought he was awake. I usually leave him alone if the light is on.) So we talked about it & I suggested that I make sure he is awake when I wake up & he was cool with that. The best part is that he understood that I had to punish him for being late to school (I said he couldn't go with us to a friend's house). I told him that was a mature attitude. (Though I have to say, when we got home, he was a bit crabby. Maybe he got bored.) It's amazing how hard it really is to re-gain trust from someone (as in him from me). Our past actions really do color people's perceptions of us.
