July 4th Weekend

Even though my week started on a rough note in the ER, it ended with a great weekend spent with my family. My husband works about 60 hours a week and when he is home his blackberry is always going on.  He works in the computer field and unfortunately computers run 24 hours a day.  It never bothered me that me that he works so much until I got sick.  In the beginning he was there for me, in the second or third month of treatment things went back to normal, for him.  For me, life was far from normal.  Needless to say I had some meltdowns and tried to let him know I needed him.He did try and is continuing to try to help me. Feeling better by Wednesday after my hopsital emergency I mentioned we should go away some time this summer.  Just a short trip because I plan to spend time with my family in Michigan in August.  The next morning he sent me a link to a resort not far from here.  He said we're going Friday for 2 nights. What a wonderful weekend we had.  Cancer was far from my mind.  I hope it was far from everyon'e mind.  We swam, shopped, ate, explored, rented a boat.  It was great.  It's just what I wanted for my family.  I want to create experiences for them that don't involve cancer.  I want this because in the back of my mind, I don't know how long I'll have to experience things with them. So this was great.  I kept up as well as I could.  I walked a lot.  I couldn't swim because of my burns, but I loved to see them in the pool. I'm happy my husband took charge and we did something without planning every aspect.
